WHERE TO STAY:
The Mountain Sky Hotel (formerly known as the Aspen Hotel) is offering a special $79/night rate for the Alaska Ice Pixies this year! The hotel is equipped with a pool, hot tub, and breakfast cafe. Call 907-835-4445 for reservations and information.

WHAT TO BRING:
Bring warm clothes. Layering is important. I start with a homemade fleece tank top from my mom, next a thin long sleeve polypro shirt and a fleece top. I also like a fleece vest for core warmth and maneuverability in the arms. A windstopping jacket - Goretex or Schoeller waterproof material with a good hood. Bring a nice warm parka to keep you warm when you are not climbing. I wear one or two pairs of long underwear under my Goretex or Schoeller pants. Fleece pants on cold days. Good socks... wool is nice.

Bring a fat smile on your face and get your buns up here for the third annual Alaska Ice Pixies gathering!

We will have demo equipment from various different companies including boots, ice tools, and crampons. If you don't have boots and you plan on buying them, double boots are good for climbing in AK because the temps are cooler up here. For ice climbing, snug without your toes touching is good. If you plan to use them for mountaineering, a little bigger for warmth and circulation. You can always add socks.

If you plan to demo boots, let us know your size so we can make sure we have it. Sunglasses, goggles, and sunblock are a must. You'll want a warm hat and neck gator. Boot gaiters are good because it is common to rip your pants with the crampons. Helmets are a must. Bring your own or we can supply you with one.

Gloves: I like 2 pairs of thin windstopper fleece to climb in or something you can tie knots with. OR makes nice gloves and they have a brand for women called Wildroses. Bring a thicker pair for belaying and if you know you have cold hands, bring mittens as they are the warmest. Your gloves get wet even if they are waterproof, so multiple pairs are necessary.
